The explicit forbidding of the impossible works remarkably well. A substantial example is This uses SAT to simulate Conway's Game of Life, with the further criteria that the final sim step must produce a braille combination of the letter AGCT. The grid itself is a 3D stack, the Life board in the X-Y axis and time in the Z. A box of dead cells surrounds the grid to give it an edge, though it could be wired to wrap around instead.
